“I realize the word ‘change’ is terrifying to the old school faire folk, but this production company is going to let the market decide what direction the faire goes in.
If the consumer wants a mob of cheerleaders that appear to be off the set of a “Road Warrior” movie, running through the faire dancing up a storm, creating the illusion that a mob of patrons have taken over the faire. Followed by a similarly attired marching band playing a very hip march with a back beat that you can’t help but want to swing to... then that’s what we’ll give them..!”

Hello all,

Well, we're doing this show at the New Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, a gay man's story that has quite a lot in common with Heidi's magnum opus. If you're not simply a fan of the lovely and talented Miss H, but intrigued in exploring the vast reaches of the Mormon-turned-sex-worker genre, I highly recommend this show.

Here's a bit of our promo stuff:

Confessions of a Mormon Boy was first seen at NCTC in August, 2002. Since then, the show has toured the nation and been developed further in preparation for an Off- Broadway opening to be directed by Jack Hofsiss in the fall of 2005. It arrives directly from a sold out run at Bailiwick Repertory in Chicago, after the play won the Overall Excellence Award for a solo show during its sold out run at the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival.

Told with humor, song, and the Book of Mormon, in his unflinchingly honest comic/dramatic monologue, Steven Fales, a sixth-generation Mormon, plays various characters from his highly distinctive life’s journey as a gay Mormon, an Eagle Scout, missionary to Portugal, BYU graduate, husband, father, and Manhattan escort.

Come see what the all those critics are fussing about:
"Affecting, enlightening..." San Francisco Chronicle
"Fascinating." The Village Voice
"Hilarious." Chicago Sun-Times
"Uncommonly powerful." Chicago Tribune
"...honest, moving, whimsical...and cathartic." Miami Herald

The show previews this Wednesday the 13th, then opens offically Thursday the 14th. Tickets are $20 preview night, more afterwards. Full details here: www.nctcsf.org . If anyone's interested but on a tight budget, drop me a line and I'll see if I can arrange some two-for-one tickets or somesuch.

Cheers,
Kelly
